Electron Diffraction Simulator

Jul 2014

  • Calculate input information including electron beam energy, incident plane, lattice constant, crystal structure, and basis atom
  • Output as diffraction intensity distribution and virtual diffraction patterns
  • Won a top 4 finalists in a domestic MATLAB programming contest
Self-developed electron diffraction simulator with user-friendly GUI

This small cool gadget is a self-developed MATLAB program by which I attempted to further improve my coding skill after finishing an programming course in undergraduate school. Combining my computational capability and materials science knowledge, this simulator can calculate and output electron diffraction information containing virtual patterns and intensity distribution. It provides a practical tool to solve crystallography problems. The project won a top 4 finalists in a national MATLAB programming contest.
